Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liner - review

Hi!

It has taken me a while to get into using lip liners. Originally, I did see the point of them, but as time went on, I finally discovered a few that I loved. One of these is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Contouring Pencil (phew) in the shade '050 Tiramisu'. And it only costs £2.99!

The packaging of this product is just the traditional wood pencil design. Personally, I much prefer the plastic, retractable kind, but for the price, you can't complain. The plastic cap fits snugly onto the pencil, and therefore unlikely to slide off when in a makeup bag or handbag.

Tiramisu is a beautiful neutral shade, like a terracotta colour. It has a firm texture, but soft enough that it glides onto the lips. It is also immensely pigmented, and very matte. That being said, it is fairly drying, especially if applied all over lips, but that is quite a common flaw with many lipliners, drugstore or high end.

When worn all over lips with no lipstick or gloss, it does last a very long time, similarly to how a liquid lipstick would last. But, when worn on the edge of the lips and paired with a lipstick a shade or two lighter, the lipliner does give the 'contoured' look that it promises. I tend to wear it with Rimmel's Kate Moss Lipstick in 'Boho Nude'.

Overall, this is a very good lip liner, and in my opinion, is comparable to MAC. The packaging, pigmentation, and wear time are all similar. But Rimmel is £10 cheaper. I know what I would rather go for. So yes, I would highly recommend this product, especially the shade 'Tiramisu'. It seems to be a shade the would suit many different skin tones, but if you don't like that shade then there are four more available.

Pros of this lip liner;
- lasts a long time
- highly pigmented
- very affordable

Cons;
- can be drying
- would prefer a retractable style of packaging as it does not have to be sharpened

Thank you for reading
Charlie
